Kassel: Semester 3

Life in Kassel is cheap.

  • Scholar book
It may be possible that you have to buy the book of Global Economic Policy. The cost should be around 20 euros.
  • Washing clothes
If you are in a student accomodation provided by the university you could wash your clothes up there. Washing should be around two euros and drying around one.

  • Lunch
The Kassel University restaurant is quite cheap if you say you are a student (at maximum 3,5€ for a decent meal):

You can also opt for snacks (around 2 € per sandwich):

Glasses and plastic bottles have a price here, the cost of a glass should be 1 euro and plastic bottle 50 cts so once you finish them you have some money back by giving it to the waiter.

  • Supermarket
Germany is the country of hard discounts, near the university campus you can go to Aldi or Lidl.

  • Doctor
A visit to the doctor is quite cheap in Germany, it should be around 10 euros.
  • Haircut
A haircut in Kassel is quite cheap if you go to places managed by Turquish hair dressers. You will find many of those and they cost only 10 €. I tried it and results were good they even spoke to me in English so I did not have to make many efforts in German.
